Big ol’ Bag of Chips

I’m bacccckkkk! After over a month long battle with RCN I’m officially back in commission with internet and cable; just in the nick of time.  I have started pre-training to train for the next marathon and I have desperately needed this blog for the motivation to get into the gym/workout/running mindset.  Full time training will officially begin December 23rd and until then I’m casually doing whatever my little heart desires as long as it’s something.

But if I’m going to be honest, ever since the Philadelphia Marathon, it has been extremely difficult to find motivation to even pre-train.  So much so, that I made a little deal with Eric that if I don’t make it to the gym or go for a run (with the exception of one rest day a week, and one “free pass” from now until the next Marathon) he has to break up with me.  Given that our four year anniversary is coming up this friday, and the fact that I have hearts and kiss faces around his name in my phone, I clearly do not want this to happen:

Today was a close call.  Work was super stressful, and called for a bag of chips on the way home from the subway, rather than any type of food conducive to working out.  So I asked to use me “free pass.”  He didn’t even humor me with a response via text.  Instead he called right away and said no to my weak attempt at a decision to use my free pass.

Good work EAK.

A short phone call later, I knew regardless of the fact that I managed to eat my feelings in UTZ chips (the bag said “snacking smart” and “gluten free”- so cut me some slack), I had to lace up my waveriders and hit the road.  I felt every chip rumbling around in my stomach.  Not that it’s news to me or anyone in the world, but obviously not the ideal pre-run snack. It wasn’t pretty- but pre-training isn’t necessarily pretty either.

With my free pass in tact I am one day closer to training, and excited to officially say that I will be running the Nashville Country Music Marathon on April 27, 2013!  For anyone interested in running this Marathon or Half Marathon check out the website here:

If you sign up by 11:59PM PST on 12/12/12 you receive a $20 discount!

In addition to the discount, it seemed fitting to sign up for Nashville on a night that I would normally be watching Nashville. Can’t wait to experience this amazing city that I’ve become obsessed with, compliments of Hayden Panettiere and Connie Britton!

  1. Welcome back! It seems the running and working out blues are all over the place, congratulations on getting to the gym! and thanks for the info on a race.

  2. Thank you! I agree! The weather has been so inconsistent this year that I don't even think I can blame it on a cold winter, but hopefully once official training starts I'll get over it! Are you running Nashville also!?
